Erica Campbell – Graduate Highlight

Erica Campbell
Erica Campbell is a 2019 graduate from PIHT’s Medical Office Administration program. Prior to meeting with admissions representative, Kathy Coddington, Erica was a stay at home mom with three children and wanted to contribute to her family and not end up with a dead end job. She wanted a career and she knew she liked the medical field, but not blood and needles.

When Erica came to tour the school, she fell in love with the small, close-knit atmosphere. She was excited when she learned that she could work in the medical field without seeing blood and needles by enrolling in an 18-month journey through the Medical Office Administration program. Erica liked the idea of earning a degree while having the versatility of working in different establishments like doctor’s offices, hospitals, or home health agencies.

As Erica embarked on her journey, she appreciated the family-like atmosphere at PIHT and loved how the staff and instructors were very caring. She felt the energy of the instructors and loved how they enjoy working with the students and encourage them to strive to do better and excel within their programs. The two instructors that stick out the most from her time at PIHT are Kelli Workman, Allied Health Coordinator, and Roxanne Seaton, General Education Instructor. No matter what class they taught, they always taught in a way that made it more interesting and fun for the students. They make sure they connect with each student and will do whatever they can to help a student when in need.

The Medical Office Administration program requires an externship experience at a healthcare facility. This allows students to apply their skills and knowledge in a real-world environment. Erica was placed at Highlands Hospital located in Connellsville, PA. During this experience, she was responsible for greeting and registering patients, verifying patient information, handling insurance details, and scheduling patients. At the conclusion of her externship, she received a job offer and now has her ideal job as Patient Registrar.

Thanks to PIHT, Erica was able to achieve what she set out to do and she would recommend anyone look into the school and how they can help someone accomplish their goals. The education and skills she gained at PIHT is something she will use for the rest of her career.  Now that Erica’s hard work and dedication has paid off, she cannot wait to make lasting memories with her family.
