42nd Annual Commencement Ceremony

2018 – 2019 Graduates

July 19, 2019 at 5:00 P.M.

Maggie Hardy Magerko Auditorium

Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus

On Friday, July 19, 2019, the staff and faculty of Pennsylvania Institute of Health and Technology said goodbye to our latest group of amazing students. Graduation is always a bittersweet day for our PIHT family. We are proud of all of our students, for we know they will represent us well and do incredible things, yet we are sad to watch them go. Think of it as the education version of “empty nest” syndrome.

42nd Annual Commencement Ceremony

The day began with congratulatory Facebook posts from graduating students and their families, friends, and classmates. We always enjoy reading the well wishes and following the students through their day as they get ready for their big moment. As the students prepared at home, the faculty and staff worked to set up the auditorium. A special thanks goes out to Danielle Grimplin (for her work on the Graduation PowerPoint) and J.B. Shavel Photography.

Students arrived two hours prior to graduation and ran through their rehearsal while family members mingled in the lobby around the refreshment table. A big thank you goes out to our wonderful student volunteers Ema Smith, Tiffany Ruble, Hope Shearer, Teresa Schoolcraft, and Daisy Wilson!

Graduation began promptly at 5:00 PM with a welcome speech by Campus President/Practical Nursing Director, Pamela Hughes. Helen Snaith, Librarian, introduced the class Salutatorian, Brigette Neghanquet, CMA, who then took the stage to deliver her speech. Finally, instructor Roxanne Seaton introduced the class Valedictorian, Kristen Grimplin, CMA/CMOA. Kristin delivered a beautiful speech, thanking her fellow classmates, as well as the staff and faculty of PIHT.

Kathryn Coddington, Admissions Advisor, introduced the scholarship recipients who would be attending PIHT this year while Megan Murray, Admissions Advisor, presented them with their certificates. Six of the twelve new students were in attendance. They are Courtney Snyder, Anna Brenzy, Hattie Hughes, Romona Thompson, Chelsea Lee, and Chloe Eicher.

Danielle Grimplin, Academic Dean, asked the MA and MOA students to come to the stage. As they approached, the Allied Health and General Ed instructors presented each MA and MOA graduate with their pins and lamps. The pinning and lighting of the lamps ceremony is a beautiful tradition. Our students did a wonderful job! They didn’t return long to their seats before they were asked by Kathy Coddington to walk the stage one last time to receive their very well deserved diplomas. Danielle Grimplin presented the degrees.

Finally, Pamela Hughes delivered her closing remarks and conferred the degrees, declaring that the students were “officially graduates.”

Graduation is a day that is measured in equal parts pride, joy, nervousness, and sadness. In the end, however, pride wins out. We the faculty and staff of PIHT, are extremely PROUD of our students. We cannot wait until next year!

Congratulations to our PIHT Graduating class of 2019!
