Welcome, New Students!

We would like to extend a special welcome to the new students to the Pennsylvania Institute of Health and Technology! Your exciting journey towards a new career starts now, and there are a few things that you need to know.

PAY ATTENTION at orientation!

Each new student will be required to attend an orientation before they start classes. This information will be important on your first day. The orientation will cover the rules and guidelines of the school, a tour of your classes, introductions to your fellow classmates, and a Q and A forum with current students. Our orientation is specialized to make sure our students are comfortable and excited before their first day of school, so we look forward to having you!

Do not be afraid to ask questions!

We are here to help you! It is natural to be nervous or afraid to ask questions when you start something new, but we want to make sure you are as prepared as you can be when you start your first day of school. Don’t be shy!

Be open to meet new people!

Do not be afraid to introduce yourself to your fellow classmates. College is a lot more than just hitting the books (although that’s important too!). There is another very important aspect of college and that is networking. The more people you know, the more opportunities will be available to you. Have you ever heard the expression it’s not what you know it’s who you know? This refers directly to networking, and good people skills will set you apart from other job candidates.  

Be on time your first day!

This may seem like common sense but it is surprising how many people in general are not punctual.  Being late on your first day can lead to you feeling frustrated and irritable and we want to make sure you are in the classroom ready to learn, day one. Eighteen months passes quickly…start your enrollment off on a positive note!

Be prepared!

Preparation is the key to a successful career long after you have left the campus at the Pennsylvania Institute of Health and Technology. The beauty about preparation is that it can be applied to any aspect of life. When you think about it, it is a fairly simple concept. The more prepared you are, the more confident you are and, the better you perform.

If you follow these tips they will help you not only in your first module, but throughout your entire enrollment at PIHT. Have a great module, and good luck!

PIHT Graduate Highlight – Dave Molinaro

Dave Molinaro graduated from Pennsylvania Institute of Health and Technology with a Specialized Associate Degree in Medical Assisting. He landed a job with Fresenius Medical upon graduation and has now grown in his career, still working for the same company today.

Dave said that he chose PIHT because it was a smaller school with more hands-on training and more one-on-one attention.

“This type of training made it easier for me to learn about my career,” Dave explained.

Entering the medical career field is not an easy task. The decision certainly comes from a drive to help others and that is exactly why Dave said he chose to enroll in the PIHT Medical Assisting program.

He said, “I have always enjoyed helping people…what better way can I do this than to save lives and make a difference in someone’s life who is in need?”

While attending PIHT, Dave had a great support network. His family, friends, the school, teachers and his kids all motivated him to complete his education.

Dave exclaimed, “I am very happy with my education from the Pennsylvania Institute of Health and Technology. It is something that can never be taken away and I would not be where I am today without it!”

Dave’s advice to new students is, “Your education is something you have to want to do. It isn’t always easy, but if you want it bad enough and try your hardest, you will be successful. You will be grateful for the time spent learning and gaining experience to prepare you for your career.”

Take a minute to review our programs and see which one fits you best!

Medical Assisting
Are you interested in assisting doctors, nurses or other health professionals treat patients? As a Medical Assistant, you will put patients minds at rest while you prepare them for their visit with the doctor. Your training will consist of taking vital signs like blood pressure, temperature and pulse, drawing blood, collecting specimens and giving injections. Our Medical Assisting Program also offers training in the office administrative field, thus preparing you for a career in various medical office settings. Many of our graduates enjoy successful careers in both the clinical and administrative settings of the medical field.

Medical Office Administration
Do you love the medical field, but enjoy the administration and business side? The Medical Office Administration program at PIHT is the perfect fit for you! As a Medical Office Administration graduate, you will keep everything running smoothly for a health care office. Your training will consist of billing and coding, maintaining records, scheduling, transcription, office duties and working with insurance companies. Many of the PIHT Medical Office Administration graduates enjoy successful careers as Office Managers, Insurance and Coding Specialists, Medical Administrative Assistants and Electronic Records Specialists.

Business Administration
Have you ever wondered what it takes to operate a business? The Business Administration program at PIHT is a great place to start if you want to learn all about the variety of skills it takes to run a business. The program offers training in business and accounting, so you will be trained for a variety of different positions. Within 18 months of training, you will learn how to manage a small business, understand accounting concepts, payroll, sales and customer service, communication skills and more. PIHT is a Certified Testing Center, so many business students are encouraged to take the Microsoft and QuickBooks certifications upon completion of their program. Students enjoy successful careers as sales professionals, bookkeepers, business managers, office managers and customer service specialists.

Practical Nursing
Do you enjoy helping people on a daily basis? Would the letters LPN look great after your name? If you said yes to either of these, then the Practical Nursing Program at PIHT could be a great choice for you! This program offers specialized training in Practical Nursing preparing you to assist health care professionals including doctors and nurses. Training for this program consists of wound care, performing IV therapy, administering medications and more. LPN’s are in demand and PIHT’s specialized training will prepare you to sit for the state licensing exam. Many of our LPN’s enjoy working at doctor’s offices, hospitals, rehabilitation centers, emergency rooms and more!

Network and Software Solutions
Do you love computers and technology? Why not make a career out of your passion? As a Network and Software Solutions graduate from PIHT, you will be working with technology hands-on. You will build computers from scratch, build websites, manage computer networks, troubleshoot computer programs and manage databases. Upon completion of training, you will be able to run computer networks for a company, repair computers, work as a consultant and as a Computer Repair Technician. Because PIHT is a Certified Testing Site, students can take their A+, Server+ and Microsoft Certifications on-site!
